What Texas Veterans May Be Able to Access

These are some of the federal, Texas, and local programs worth investigating based on individual eligibility.

VA Home Financing

Many eligible veterans can purchase with no down payment, and VA-backed loans do not require monthly PMI.

Texas Veteran Financing

The Texas Veterans Land Board provides special home and land financing for eligible Texas veterans and military members up to $832,750.

Property-Tax Relief

Texas provides significant property-tax exemptions for qualifying disabled veterans and surviving spouses, potentially eliminating property tax entirely for 100% disabled veterans.

Housing Adaptation

Some severely disabled veterans may qualify for VA adapted-housing grants up to $126,526 (FY 2026) to adapt or purchase an accessible home.

Down-Payment Assistance

Veterans may qualify for Texas and local assistance programs that can sometimes work with VA financing, including up to 5% through TSAHC.

Keep Your Home

Veterans experiencing mortgage trouble may have VA servicing, Partial Claim (launched June 2026), and home-retention options worth investigating.
